Community Hospital Parkinson's Services. Dr Rob Skelly FRCP MMedSci is a consultant physician and geriatrician with a special interest in Parkinson's Disease. He visits Ripley Hospital on most Tuesdays. Dr Sirish Vasireddy is a consultant physician and geriatrician with a special interest in Parkinson's Disease. He visits Ilkeston Hospital or Long Eaton Health Centre once a month to see people with Parkinson's. He also does a general medical clinic at Ilkeston Hospital on Wednesdays and is able to see Parkinson's patients in that clinic also. Shauna Hather is Neurology Nurse Specialist for Derbyshire Community Health Services. She provides post-diagnosis counselling, and follow up services for people with Parkinson's. She also sees people with other neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease. Ripley Hospital is the base for Amber Valley Neurological Outpatient service. Helen Widdowson, Senior Physiotherapist, and Rachael Samuels, Senior Occupational Therapist, provide an outpatient/outreach service to people with Parkinson's Disease who have a GP within the Amber Valley area. They run an Education and Exercise group for people with Parkinson's Disease. This is a 6 week course which runs approximately 3 times per year. They also supervise a High Intensity Therapy (HIT) exercise programme. Physiotherapy and occupational therapy services for Parkinson's are also available at Babington Day Unit. The community hospital services are provided by Derbyshire Community Health Services Trust. The Community Trust and Derby Hospitals Foundation Trust work closely together through the Southern Derbyshire PD Steering Group.
